when talking about my personal brand in the last assignment I talked about wanting to be able to create safe spaces for minorities in creative industries. however, this is just a very small portion of my personal brand as a creative. as much as this is important to me, it is more of a way that I would conduct myself in a team situation.
my full personal brand is represented well in the works I have made and the way they turned out as well as the creative process. in my photography I mostly enjoy the way that I interact with the environment as well as the learning I get from editing my photos. in film I far more enjoy the process of filming with a crew than seeing the final product. my personal brand it about enjoying and fully understanding the creative process as well as being proud of the final product. my personal brand revolves around enjoying what I do and being able to grow and shape myself and others into industry professionals. I want to be able to represent myself as a role model for young women trying to cement themselves in this male dominated industry, especially in the more male dominated fields. I am not proud that there are barely any women who have been successful in camera and directing but I am proud to be one of the women who are trying. My main passion is directing and I want to be able to run and work in a set the way I want to, by providing a safe space for all while still fulfilling my passion.
my portfolio represents the creative side of my work, and insight into how I work as a creative. working in film for me has always been about creating something that I am proud of that expresses my creative side. however, my CV shows what I actually do for work outside of university, which is mostly customer service and landscape design. I believe that it has been extremely valuable for me to have these jobs under my belt. customer service, especially working in a bar, has taught me how to deal with people from all walks of life, especially when I do not want to deal with them (at 1am after just cleaning up vomit). and landscaping has taught me a very hardworking work ethic, and how to work alone, being my own supervisor. these skills have more than benefited me in my creative works. being a well rounded creative is something that I value in myself. my works show my growth as an artist and my favourite works along the way. it also shows my work ethic on set; dedicated, attentive but still a little bit goofy.
I feel like this portfolio is a good representation of me.
